Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis – Physiotherapy can Help!

A study published in the New England journal of medicine (2008) found that arthroscopic surgery provided no additional benefit to optimize physical and medical therapy in people with moderate to severe osteoarthritis.

For optimal benefits physiotherapy should be based on assessment findings and tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient.

Revised treatment guidelines released by the American College of Rheumatology in April 2012 confirmed that exercises can be a very effective treatment tool in the management of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee.
